Does anyone have replacement setups for this box. Not only does mine not boot now (past the highlighting of “Internet Radio”, it has a pagefi1e.sys in the internal disk that reports as a trojan.

Emphasis on this not being due to this new ROM – I can’t even get far enough to install it.

After the highliting of the “internet radio” icon in the bootup screen, it should load the main menu application. I guess it can not find it and because of that crashes.
I do not really see why there is a pagefi1e.sys isnt that a dos/windows thing?
Did you try with and without a pc connection and is telnet already up and accessible?

  3. Fred Says:

Nope, gets no further than that splash screen. No menu, and no wifi network connection either.

If plugged into the USB you can access the internal disk, but that’s about it. Not sure how these trojan bits got there either (not accessed the internal disk before, and no virii anywhere else). I’ve a sneaky suspicion its like that from the manufacturer.

I take it there is no combination of buttons that ‘resets to default’ ?

Looks like unless I can access the flash where the OS/App is stored, its a paperweight.

No, there is no reset to default.
However, there is a recovery option. We are currently exploring that path and hope to have a fix for crashed devices.

I have the same problem. I haven’t used it in a while but when I turned it on yesterday it freezes on the internet radio in the splash screen and stays there and won’t go to the main menu anymore. Can anyone help?

  5. eggingz Says:

The original firmware I guess. I haven’t done any firmware updates on it as there aren’t any until now. I got it from ebuyer uk last December 2010. I was just about to install this new released one but never get past that frozen internet radio at the splash screen.

  6. eggingz Says:

PC does not detect it when connected to USB as well.

  7. penbex Says:

Ok, as said before we are working on the recovery method. Right now the recovery fails. The radio still will not bootup after our self made recovery. However, it does fix some things inside as the device can connect over USB after the attempt. I am sure we can do a full recovery soon.

I am having the same boot up issue, with the original firmware. It worked fine for a while and then again wouldn’t get past internet radio.
Thank you for working on fixing it.

When I bought my Xenta from eBuyer it had 1.7 firmware, when plugging the device in I noticed that the internal drive seemed to be full. On Windows 7 the operating system detected problems with the drive and offered to run a quick scan of the filesystem for me. I decided to take a chance and format the internal drive to make sure it was in a clean state before transferring the firmware file. This was a good choice, formatting the internal drive did not affect the device at all, it was still running and operational. I copied the firmware update via my computer onto the internal drive and then unplugged the device and plugged it in via the wall socket and requested the device upgrade its firmware from the internal memory. It all works fantastically. Thank you.

I ended up here because my new Xenta couldn’t download the data on internet radio stations – it would try for ages and then report a network error.

I plugged the radio into a USB port on my Linux box and mounted /dev/sdb (no number), copied over the new firmware, unmounted the radio and rebooted it. When upgrading the firmware from internal memory I got an error, but it seems to have worked. I can now get all the internet radio and TV stations.

I was unable to remount the radio, as the internal memory file system seems to have become corrupted. But a reformat would probably fix that, if I need to use the internal memory for anything.

    Thanks for providing this fix.

Hello Guys, any news on the fix on the frozen splash screen that stops at the internet radio icon?….As of now my Xenta KMP510 remains a paper weight.
    Thanks.

  12. Barry Says:

Same problem here with the startup screen. Shame – Its a good bit of kit!

  13. Chris Says:

I am also having this same problem with it getting stuck after the splash screen… seems I’m not the only one..

    • penbex Says:

As long as there are no hardware defects (unlikely) it can be fixed. I will soon dive into the creating of recovery files. I first have to finish the new firmware and release it.
